“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it” -Proverbs 22:6
We believe that God is the ultimate scientist, mathematician, orator, philanthropist, and healer. He is the source of all truth, light, understanding, and knowledge. Why, then, would we ever want to exclude Him from our children’s education? We need communities that respect and welcome faith as a strength, not suppress or degrade it.
We are each created as both temporal and spiritual beings. To educate the body and mind and ignore the spirit and heart is a great disservice to a child. As you may know, children become adults. And so many of the adults that our current system of education is turning out are mentally, socially, and morally unhealthy. Sure, you can say that most of us are “fine.” But when did fine become the goal? Our goal should be to enable our children to reach their highest potential, not to simply survive.
